I tried more radiooptions actions, but didn't make progress. These were all with no SIM in the phone, starting with the data type showing as a flashing triangle, and nonzero signal strength (usually -85dBm). Wi-fi off.

• radiooptions 0 (radio_reset, no visible effect)
• radiooptions 1 (radio_off, triangle disappears, bars marked with X, signal is minus infinity)
• radiooptions 5 (radio_on, no visible effect)
• radiooptions 2 (unsolicited network state change, no visible effect)
• I tried various others with no visible effect. Rebooted phone.
• radiooptions 3 (QXDM_enable, no visible effect. I assume this is Qualcomm Extensible Diagnostic Monitor.)
• radiooptions 4 (QXDM_disable, radiooptions hangs for a long time.)
• Rebooted phone.
• radiooptions 7 (deactivate_PDP, no visible effect)
• radiooptions 8 ${number} (it dialled the voice number and connected)
• radiooptions 6 ${apn} (setup_PDP, removes triangle, shows bars marked with X and signal minus infinity, various combinations, finally goes back to flashing triangle)

When the phone boots it shows the same behaviors as on radiooptions 6. I tried these APNs, found in various formum posts, all with the same effect: ${phone_nbr}@vzw3g.com, emgsm@vzw3g.com, vzw3g.com (with no user). One person had ${phone_number}#vzw3g.com on a Blackberry, but this put my radio coprocessor into a stete where radiooptions 6 ${apn} had no effect. (Rebooted phone.)
